Tenebrae is the Latin term for “darkness.” Churches often offer a worship experience on the night of Jesus’ betrayal in the Garden of Gethsemane with a series of scripture readings that follow the events of Holy Week. With each event that takes Jesus closer to the crucifixion, we extinguish one light (or candle) taking us through a process from light to darkness.
Like the disciples on that first Maundy Thursday, Cook’s Church will offer a time of worship and a meal. Using the model of events, we will call on the full cast of characters who were involved with the decisions that lead to Jesus’ Death Sentence and tragic Darkness. “Were You There…?”
Please join us on Thursday, April 18th at 6:30pm for a meal and worship including the Last Supper.
